| Course Summary: Most drug workers are engaging with clients who are
committing crimes to accumulate the finances to
support their drug use. The criminal justice system can
seem a complicated and unfamiliar area for workers
attempting to support clients who are regularly involved
with it.
This course aims to demystify the CJS, enabling professionals to work more effectively with clients who are serving community orders or who are imprisoned (either on remand or convicted/sentenced). The course will explore the range of sentencing options available through the courts, specific orders for drug-using clients, prison-based support services and treatment options as well as community-based initiatives being delivered by the police which have relevance to service users who are repeat offenders.Learning Objectives:
