| Course Summary: This course is aimed at both generic drug workers and
those who are working specifically with sex working
clients. Selling sex is a phenomenon which impacts
significantly on street drug users and can carr y a wide
range of implications for areas such as sexual health,
the risk of violence and coercive relationships, identity
and self-perception, imprisonment and increase in drug
and alcohol use.
This course will explore myths and realities around sex working, examining the differences between street working and working in flats and saunas. It will explore the legality of sex worker practises, the hierarchy that exists within the industry and attitudes towards drug using sex workers by their non-drug using peers. The course will examine the differences between male and female sex working, explore particular areas of concern regarding trafficked and underage sex workers and identify the difficulties clients may face when choosing to exit the profession.Learning Objectives:
