Course: Heroin and Crack - Issues and Interventions
| Course Date: Course Length: | 18/05/20051 Day Course |
| Course Summary: Drug treatment services are seeing a growing number of
clients who are using both heroin and crack cocaine.
Many have been long-term heroin users who have been
introduced to crack cocaine use, which in turn can lead
to chaotic behaviour and medical, social and legal
problems. Similarly many of those who have used crack
as their primary drug have begun to use heroin as a
‘come down’ drug. There are many options available to
treat the opiate part of the problem but few
interventions for the crack cocaine aspect of their use.
This course will promote awareness of the issues faced by poly-drug users and investigate techniques that may provide an effective method of working with this client group. This course is aimed at all professionals/volunteers working in the drugs and the social care field. The course will be of particular benefit for workers who have some understanding of substance misuse and would like to develop their knowledge and skills relating to multi-substance users.Learning Objectives:
