| Course Summary: This course focuses on the need for services to be more
accessible and culturally sensitive to the wider needs of
clients from a diverse and multi-cultural society.
This interactive one-day course explores drug use within the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities in the UK. It will examine the barriers to accessibility for BME groups attempting to access services, and will examine good practice in responding effectively to these gaps. Through discussion activities, presentations and practical case studies participants will be guided through the process of community profiling, needs-assessment, partnership building, community development and service delivery. The course is aimed at developmental workers, professional or community workers and managers seeking to develop specific services or interventions that more appropriately address the needs of drug-users from the wider communities.Learning Objectives:
