| Course Summary: Young people’s drug use is on the increase, with research
showing that it is starting earlier and that it is having a
more problematic impact on the lives of young people.
This course is designed as a foundation for people
wishing to gain an up-to-date understanding of the
prevalence of drugs/alcohol use and youth culture and
develop greater confidence and awareness of drug-related
interventions developed specifically with young
people.
This course is aimed at all professionals / volunteers working directly and indirectly with young people such as Youth Workers, Connexions, Youth Offending Teams, ETE and homelessness professionals. The course will be of particular benefit for workers who wish to identify drug-use amongst young people they work with and develop their skills in effective interventions. ‘Young People & Drugs’ can be also be taken as a foundation course for some of the more advanced courses in Hungerford Training Programme or as a 2- day course in combination with the Young People & Drugs Level 2 training course.Learning Objectives:
