Mobile Needle Exchange Services Team

The Needle exchange team provides a range of enhanced needle exchange services.

These include:

Needle Exchange Van Team
The team provide a range of enhanced services that include:
  • Weekly satellites sessions at CLASH, York Way Rolling Shelter, Seymour Place Rolling Shelter and Holy Cross Italian Church.
  • Daily Needle Exchange worker presence at the Hungerford drop-in Mon- Fri to enable needle exchange clients to engage in a building based service.
  • Weekly dedicated needle exchange drop-in at the Hungerford (Wed 11-2)
  • Enhanced interventions are also carried out on the van, but this is dependant on using the quieter periods of clients accessing the van, rather than based on the need of individual client.
Needle Exchange Enhanced Workers
We have two dedicated enhanced workers who are a part of the wider Mobile Needle Exchange Team but are also closely linked to
  • Camden street Services Team
  • Westminster Rapid Intervention Team
The enhanced workers hold a case load of current needle exchange clients but are also known to the retrospective street service teams. There focus of their work involves accessing the clients to treatment services (SRAC & ASSIST), hostel accommodation & SMU’s, Primary Health Care, liaison with CJ services, referral onto appropriate drug services outside Westminster & Camden and other intervention in line with the appropriate Street Population Strategies.
